![]() ![]() ![]() I've NEVER previously had a problem with Front Row being anything but completely responsive.Ħ) The final straw: I woke my MBP from sleep (after about 2 hours) and, as I was observing it change back to my wireless network from the in-law's network (via the Airport icon in the menu bar), my cursor suddenly froze (trackpad was non-responsive). That was REAL impressive when I was showing the machine off, by the way. When it does find the playlist, it displays a message to the effect of "cannot play these files." iTunes does open in the background, but Front Row either freezes (requiring a force quit to get back to the finder) or simply moves like a slug. This was not happening previously.ĥ) Front Row either delays or totally fails to bring up my iTunes playlists. The display comes up, goes to black after five seconds, and then returns to normal. As I was closing the lid and re-opening more often than usual (putting the unit to sleep and waking it up), I regularly noticed the video is consistently flickering about 5 seconds or so after waking from sleep. When I tried to scroll, the window jumped around like I didn't have the horsepower (video or processor) to do the job smoothly.Ĥ) Today, I'd been showing off the machine to family (promoting the "Mac way"). I was downloading a video in one window and reading an article in another. This was after a fresh start (turning it on for the first time this morning) and doing nothing else but surfing (looking for Thanksgiving specials). This didn't really help, but at least I wasn't begging for another Kernel Panic.ģ) Earlier today, Safari started acting like it had no power to even scroll windows. I felt like I was back on my old iBook, and I went about shutting all my applications down and restarting to bring performance back (an old habit). I thought nothing of it other than "well, I guess it was bound to happen sometime." I guess it was more significant than I thought.Ģ) Recently, I've noticed the machine seemed to be "bogged down" during normal operations from time-to-time. However, I've seen the following symptoms since:ġ) I had my first Kernel Panic on this machine ever a couple of days ago (after the update). I can confirm that "Boot ROM Version 03" has been loaded and is the most current (upgraded) firmware as per article #303880 and the upgrade notes. ![]() I didn't have anything "funny" going on when I did the upgrade (other than my power button LED not so much as illuminating when it was supposed to blink per the instructions), and the installation took place as described. I've only just recently begun to have wake-from-sleep and startup issues (post-installation of this firmware upgrade). "This EFI Firmware Update fixes several Boot Camp, start up, and wake-from-sleep issues on MacBook Pro computers." I'm running the 2.16 GHz 17" MBP, and I'm having a whole slew of poor symptoms since the upgrade. ![]()
